Going green

I was asked to help a new eco start-up with their identity – Sustainable Africa are based in Zimbabwe and supply a wide range of innovative environmental packaging which are an economical alternative to plastic. They wanted a brand which would proudly show their African heritage and environmental focus.

One of the key differentiators in their packaging is that it is made from sugarcane leaves – I took this fact and designed a logo which features a sugarcane leaf wrapping around in a stylised shape of Africa.

I paired this logo with a brand wordmark that felt quite utilitarian and simple, and that would work well stamped into packaging or printed in a single colour on recycled paper.

As well as a brand colour palette, I also create a brand texture which had the feel of recycled paper stock – this has been used on coffee cups, social media posts and office signage.
